The Best Birthday Party I've Ever Had

Today I had a great birthday spending time with my wonderful husband and adorable girls. Tim and I had a great lunch together, without the kids, and had fun spending some time alone to talk and enjoy each other. This afternoon Kaylie and Jadyn made me a birthday cake and decorated the heck out of it. I let them put any and every sprinkle we had- including the new princess sprinkles we bought which they couldn't wait to get their hands on. It made my day to have the girls sing 'Happy Birthday' to me through out the day and just to have extra loves from them. Then at the girls' requests we finished the night off with Happy Meals from McDonalds and some birthday cake. I don't think it gets any better than this!

And yes, once again my girls are just in their panties. I can't keep them dressed at all when they are at home because clothes just get in the way of them putting on their dress up clothes. We're working on it! We are also working on Kaylie not scratching her sister. You'll know which one is Jadyn in the video by all the wonderful scratches on her. Oh brother!

The Fun of Painting

Kaylie & Jadyn got watercolor paints for their 3rd birthday and really love sitting down at the kitchen table and painting. They seriously will sit there for 45 min. - 1 hour painting, which is awesome when I am cleaning the kitchen. Well Friday night I let them paint and when I looked over I noticed Jadyn had decided she needed to paint her nails purple. It cracked me up and honestly she did a pretty good job. Once I laughed that was it and Jadyn decided to really give Mom a show by starting to paint her face. If I ever meet the Crayola person who invented the washable paints I am going to give them a big hug. :)

September 11th

I honestly can't believe that it has been 8 years since September 11th happened. I can still remember everything like it was yesterday and my heart still goes out to the families and friends that were affected by it firsthand. Tim and I had the opportunity to go to Ground Zero in 2005 before we left for law school. It is amazing to feel the spirit there and the peace that is found. It was great to see how everyone was so respectful and reverent, which is exactly how you hope people will be but are never quite sure what you'll find. It was an experience I will never forget and am so thankful I had the opportunity to go.

I hope that you all have a wonderful September 11th and take a moment to think of all the people who so tragically lost their lives on that day. I am thankful to be an American and hope that people "will never forget".

Too Much Fox News

I have been watching a lot of news lately, especially Fox News, and I guess it hasn't gone without notice. It is no secret I am not too pleased with how Congress is handling things and the proposed Health Care Plan so I have been watching a lot of different things to stay informed. Well the other day as I was watching Glenn Beck a picture of Barack Obama came on the TV during a commercial. Jadyn pointed at him and said, "Mom. That's Arock O-bumbum!" I turned to her and asked her what she said to make sure I heard her right. She said again, "Arock O-bumbum!" I laughed so hard and honestly was surprised she knew the President of the United States name... well, somewhat. :) Oh, how I love my smart little 3 year old! Does this mean I need to incorporate Political Science into our preschool lessons? :)

First Day of Preschool

Today was the first day of preschool for Kaylie and Jadyn and they absolutely loved it. I decided that I would teach them this year since the preschool I tried to get them in was full. I think it will be great and that way I can be more flexible when our baby comes. Tim's sister Kathy told me about this great program that you can order online and they mail you the materials and I am really excited to see how it turns out. Kaylie and Jadyn love being in preschool, but were disappointed that they didn't get to ride a bus. We had a great lesson today and we are all looking forward to tomorrow! :)

"I Miss My Brandon & Ann!"

We had so much fun over the past few days to have Brandon & Ann come stay at our house. Brandon and Tim have been friends since they were in seventh grade and it was so fun to see them just laugh for hours together. We are actually naming our baby after Brandon so that should go to show you how good of friends they are. :) The girls loved having them here and loved playing tea party with them. Kaylie in fact married Brandon on Sunday out by the swingset (a.k.a. her castle) and even kissed him. It was a crack up to see how much she adored Brandon. When I tried to get Kaylie to get her hair fixed for church she looked at me and said, "No Mom! I married happily ever after!" Ooh, heaven help us when she becomes a teenager! :)

Tim and Brandon enjoyed hours of golfing while Ann (who is also expecting) and I enjoyed a pedicure, a pregnancy massage, and lunches together. It was a ton of fun. Kaylie and Jadyn really enjoyed eating at Fuddruckers last night since not only did they have games there but they also were able to get pink milkshakes! (The pictures & video are from there, but sadly those are the only pictures I took.)

We were sad to see them go and Kaylie woke up from her nap today crying, "I miss my Brandon and Ann!" She kind of cheered up when I told her we could call them on the phone and talk to them if she really missed them a lot. Thanks Brandon and Ann for coming- it was so great to see you!

Fun at Grandpa Coil's Farm

Last Friday we went to Grandma and Grandpa Coil's house to feed sheep and to pick some vegetables from the garden. The girls were so excited to help Grandpa out and could barely wait for the time to come to go to their home. It was pretty cute to see them feed the sheep, put water in the trough, and pick lots and lots of carrots and potatoes. I just can't believe how big they are getting. Grandpa even topped it all off with a ride in the basket of his bike. Now who wouldn't love to do that. :) It was so much fun and Kaylie and Jadyn are still talking about it. Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Coil for such a wonderful afternoon!
